Remembering Sharon Kleinschmidt

Sharon Kay Kleinschmidt, better known as “Ms. Kay” was born in Little Sauk, Minnesota, to Florence Sabota Kleinschmidt, and Arthur Carol Kleinschmidt. Ms. Kay lived in the San Diego for the past 55 years. After high school she joined the U.S. Navy were she retired as Commander . Ms. Kay was a teacher at Mar Vista High School and retired from Southwest high school after teaching for a total of 48 years she had a grand retirement party. Ms. Kay was a long time parishioner at Saint Charles Catholic Church in Imperial Beach. Ms. Kay lived large and loved to travel, she visited; Africa, Japan, Thailand, Mexico (Rosarito was her favorite) Europe. Ms. Kay loved the ocean and enjoyed many years having front seat at a beautiful ocean view in Imperial Beach California. Ms. Kay’s hobbies were bowling, peenuckel, golfing, reading, theater and she loved cats. She proudly was appointed Grand Marshall for the Home coming game parade, San Diego.

Ms. Kay is survived by her son Arthur Joseph Klienschmidt who lives in San Diego, California, her niece and cousins in Minnesota, and many many loving friends. Sharon shared so much with so many, always enjoyed her self doing all she did. Her many students will never forget her smiling face and her joy for life. Her family and friends will miss her and never forget her kind and loving way towards everyone she came in contact with, we will truly miss her. Sharon passed away on April 26, 2012.

“One of the most exciting moments during my long time participating in the track and field events was when Sharon won the gold in the 1500m – the winner had to be determiend via photo finish. I will never forget it. Your wonderful retirement party reflected – you were a Gold Medalist in all areas of life. I will miss you.” – Ingrid Mancini

Services were held Monday, May 7, 2012 at St. Charles Parish in San Diego.

Joseph “Joe” R. Pastore Joseph “Joe” R. Pastore died Sat. March 10, 2012 following a brief illness and complication from pancreatic cancer. His wife, Audrey, and son, Marc, were at his bedside. A native of Pittsfield. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Inez Pastore. He served two years in the U.S. Army. Pastore had a 35 year history of hotel management expertise. He held executive positions with Hilton, Sheraton, Travelodge and Vagabond Hotels. He was also a licensed real estate broker. In 1982, Joe founded Performance Management, Inc., a hotel consulting and management firm headquartered in San Diego, Calif. The firm provided management expertise to hotel operators with emphasis on increasing profits. In his mid 50′s, Joe returned to his childhood passion of playing sports. He played with the La Mesa Senior softball league until recently. In 2003, his team won gold medals at the National Senior Games in Baton Rouge, LA. In 1996 Joe and Audrey adopted and raised two of his grandchildren, Joseph and Alicia. He also has two other grandsons, Christopher and Kasen. He is survived in death by his wife Audrey, son Marc Pastore (Tina) of Maui, HI, daughter Carla Pastore Hall (Brian) of San Diego, four grandchildren and brother Robert Pastore of San Francisco. Joe was a loving husband and devoted father who also loved his extended family and friends. FUNERAL NOTICE: The family will receive friends on Mon., March 19, 2012 between 4 to 7 p.m. at the El Cajon Mortuary located at 684 S. Mollison Ave., El Cajon, CA. 92020. The funeral will be held on Tues., March 20, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the El Cajon Mortuary with Pastor Wayne Dabney officiating. Burial will be at the Miramar National Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to San Diego Hospice.

It is well documented that too much stress directly leads to poor health and disease. Study after study has concluded stress is literally killing us. Juggling parenting, work tasks and home responsibilities can be overwhelming. Many people are feeling stressed by the news of the day, the challenges of modern life and by the holidays. Holidays are supposed to be fun not stressful. Our bodies can also become overly stressed when there is too much stimulation such as cell phones, TV’s, mp3 players, etc. or any other noises.

Apply the following tips and enjoy the holidays.

Remember that you are a spiritual being and nothing bad can happen to you.
Remember that 90% of things we worry about never happen.
Take time out daily to relax your body/mind; meditate and stay connected to your spiritual self and be clear on your life purpose. Having some quality quiet time daily will help to reduce stress.
Breathe deeply throughout the day when you are feeling stressed.. Deep breathing will help you regain focus and relax your body. You will get more oxygen flowing through your body and feel more relaxed.
Exercising daily is one of the best ways to reduce stress.
Rest is very important as is eating healthy foods to keep your body healthy and relaxed.
